Benefits of Silk

Benefits of Silk | Why Mulberry Silk is Better for Your Skin, Sleep & Health
The More Sunday difference

Not just
pajamas —
a practice

At More Sunday, we believe what you wear to sleep matters as much as how long you sleep. The right fabric can actively improve your skin overnight, regulate your temperature so you stay in deeper sleep cycles, and protect sensitive skin from the irritation that disrupts rest.

Mulberry silk isn't a luxury indulgence — it's a smarter choice. Its natural protein structure is biologically compatible with human skin, its thermoregulating properties keep your body at an optimal sleep temperature, and its antimicrobial qualities mean it stays cleaner longer between washes.

We believe silk pajamas are the most incredible sleepwear on the market. Here's exactly why.

Quick careRinse in the sink or shower, lay flat or hang to dry. That's it — no fuss, no dry cleaning needed.

Caring for your silk

Simple care for
lasting luxury

Silk is more resilient than its reputation suggests. Follow these simple steps and your More Sunday pieces will stay beautiful for years — not just a season.

Avoid direct sunlight when drying, which can fade and weaken silk fibers. Never wring or twist — gently press moisture out. Iron on the lowest setting if needed, always on reverse.

Hand wash or rinse

Cool or cold water only. A quick rinse in the sink while you shower is genuinely enough for regular use. Use a gentle, pH-neutral detergent for a proper wash.

Press, don't wring

Gently press excess water out — never wring or twist the fabric. Place in a clean towel and lightly press to absorb remaining moisture.

Air dry away from sun

Lay flat or hang to dry in a shaded spot. Direct sunlight and heat will damage silk fibers over time — keep it cool and out of direct light.

Machine wash option

Use the included fine mesh delicates wash bag on a gentle cold cycle. Your More Sunday pillowcases come machine-wash ready for everyday convenience.

Everything you've asked
about silk

Are silk pajamas actually worth it?

Yes — especially compared to cotton or synthetic sleepwear at similar price points. The temperature-regulating and skin benefits are measurable, the antimicrobial properties mean you wash less often, and quality silk at 19 momme lasts significantly longer than cheaper alternatives. The cost-per-wear math usually works in silk's favor.

Is silk better than cotton for sleeping?

For most people, yes. Silk thermoregulates where cotton absorbs sweat, silk retains your skin's moisture where cotton draws it away, and silk's smoother surface creates less friction and restlessness during sleep. The exception is those who prefer a heavier, more structured fabric feel — silk is lighter and more fluid.

Does silk really help your skin overnight?

Yes, and there's science behind it. Silk's 18 amino acids mirror your skin's own proteins, helping support overnight regeneration and moisture retention. Unlike cotton, silk doesn't absorb your skincare products — so what you apply before bed actually stays on your skin working through the night.

Is silk good for hair?

Significantly. Silk creates virtually zero friction against hair compared to cotton pillowcases, which is why hairstylists and dermatologists recommend it for reducing breakage, split ends, and morning frizz. If you colour or chemically treat your hair, silk can visibly extend the life of your treatment and blowout.

Can silk be washed in a machine?

More Sunday silk can be machine washed on a gentle cold cycle using the included delicates wash bag. For regular care, a quick rinse in cool water in the sink or shower is all you need — silk's antimicrobial properties mean it stays fresher far longer between full washes than cotton or synthetic fabrics.

Is silk good for sensitive skin and eczema?

Yes — silk is one of the most-recommended fabrics for eczema, rosacea, and general skin sensitivity. It's naturally hypoallergenic, creates no friction against skin, and contains no synthetic finishes or chemical treatments (especially when OEKO-TEX certified). Many people with reactive skin find silk the only fabric they can sleep comfortably in.
